really liked it

In preparing for a trip to Ireland, I’ve read a historical account of the Guinness’s, an Irish suspense novel and now this, Irish modern fiction. I think I liked this the most as was exactly what I was looking for – fiction taking place in rural Ireland. This is basically a family drama, and oh, what a family: dramatic and depressed mom, responsible eldest sister, gay brother, drifter brother and alcoholic talented sis. All come together one Christmas. Well written and established characters; another novel where the location (Western Ireland / County Claire) almost becomes a character in the story. Now on to Joyce!
