it was amazing
bookshelves: classic, fairy-tales
Read from October 28 to November 04, 2011

What wonderful tales. You'll find the absolutely bewildering, the happy ever afters and the few tragic ends. Great for inspiration.

I also discovered that reading short story after short story is tough. Just when you know the characters and the setting, the story is over. Then you must start anew, new characters and new setting.

Better to take your time and enjoy a couple of stories at a time.

I even recognised a snippet from The Hobbit. One tale features a small man tasked with dispatching two troublesome giants. Remaining hidden he tricks them into thinking that each giant is teasing and poking the other, causing them to fight and kill each other. Just like Gandalf tricking the trolls into arguing until daybreak turns them to stone.

Cinderella features a little more blood than the Disney version.

A must read collection of fairy tales!
