it was amazing
bookshelves: fiction-historic
Read from October 27 to 30, 2011

Don't mess with a Saxon called Hereward, who hid in the marshes and defied the rule of the Conqueror (William I). I'd never heard of him before I bought this book, much to the disgust of my dad. I saw it a charity shop priced at £1 and it was the bargain of the year.

This is a fictional account of Hereward, starting a few years before the Battle of Hastings. A truly brilliant read (I read it in a day). And in case you're wondering, my dad has now "borrowed" the book.

As fictional historical novels go this is up there with the best. I nominated it as one of the best books of 2011. Well worth a read.
