really liked it
bookshelves: fanciful, ya

This book is a fine example of English storytelling. Cutesy and conversational like Lewis and Barrie, but without the sexism. It's extremely creative, because of course Borrowers have to be... It's in their nature, of course, as their civilization is built entirely on the things that humans discard. In a way the idea is sort of a commentary on the excessive wealth of 1st world countries and consumer culture. But it's amusing, and only 180 pages! I recommend this if you're feeling whimsical, or if you need something to read to your kid. I certainly enjoyed the audiobook back in the day...
