really liked it

Prior to reading this book, my knowledge of the Battle of New Orleans came from a 1959 Johnny Horton song, "The Battle of New Orleans" (https://youtu.be/VL7XS_8qgXM). The song mentions "Colonel Jackson" in the second line but Horton might as well said it was Colonel Sanders since my 11-year-old mind had not encountered much history to that point. All I knew was I liked the drums and the fact that they replaced a melted down cannon with an alligator. But this book corrected that.

The writing is good as is the balance between providing enough historical detail versus too much. If you'd like to know more about the key battle in what many regard as the second war of independence between the United States and Britain, this is for you.
