it was amazing
bookshelves: 10-my-choice, favorites

This was a fantastic book to read while I was in Honduras. Yes, I know that the Dominican Republic, where it's mostly set, and Honduras are quite different, but I loved the Spanglish--and actually the voice in general is phenomenal. I also ended up learning a whole bunch about the DR.

It has some pretty fricken long footnotes (often whole different long stories), which usually I don't like, but they were so entertaining themselves that I actually kind of enjoyed them. This may be my new favorite book.

Maribeth I'm glad you liked this, Stasia! I loved it too. I had the same thought about the footnotes, but can't imagine the story without them.
