I always love it when I can give a book a good review. Unfortunately, that isn't often because I am quite a nit-pick.

"Dark Designs" was a delightful find for several reasons.

The storyline totally hangs together! No gaps or incongruities. I like my fantasy worlds to feel real and immersive, this story really met my needs!

The characters were very well done. It is hard to get psychosis details correct, particularly when woven into fantasy elements. Charlie's mental state and issues were right in sync with the situation, as well as the reactions of the people affected by him. It was all very believable and really drew me in.

I found it an intriguing book from beginning to end and an excellent representation of the genre! I will be looking forward to seeing more from Stephanie Spangler.

In addition, I have to add that the technical aspects of the writing were also very good. Even though I am not an expert in such things bad grammar and editing can sometimes be off-putting. I am truely delighted to say that this manuscript was very well crafted!
