lots of skimming here . . quite a tome . . the snippets of interviews from developers, etc. were often really cool . . plenty of parts about games/systems i have fond memories of that were really engaging . . but also lots of parts that i didn't need to actually read .. the main problem here, of course, is the evolving nature of gaming and the resulting fact that this book is already hopelessly out of date . . you really can't do an "ultimate" history of something that continues like gaming . . though every decade or so, you probably can do a retrospective of things that, historically, actually do end up being important . .
