Storm Warning, by Linda Sue Park

This ninth addition to the 39 clue book series is actually kind of confusing at the beginning because you can’t tell what it is leading up to. Amy and Dan Cahill have been all over the world on their clue hunt to become the most influential people in the history of the world, but the Caribbean is by far the nicest place they have been in yet! But is not even close to the safest place they have been, either. They are being followed by the man in black, a mysterious man that has tried to kill them multiple times. But one thing is certain: he is a Madrigal, just like Dan, Amy, and their parents! They also have enemies ready to kill them at a moment’s notice with henchmen at their disposal. Concussions, quicksand, water parks, and lots of other unexpected things add to the intensity of the book, with all sorts of un-thought-of twists in the plot, leading to an uncertain end!

This book is yet another action-packed book full of surprises that are unlike what you are used to the characters being like. It is good at attacking your emotions, making you sad by the characters moods or revengeful for what you know other characters have done to the main characters. One such example is excellent to prove this statement completely! “I was right there with him- and then a wave- and he’s stuck in the quicksand- we’ve got to save him,” said Dan through tears. This is when a character is lost and could be drowning, which is why the sentence is told so spastically.

This book was not all amazing, and was kind of crazy because of all the twists and curves in the story that makes you kind of angry at the writer for doing those parts so strange. Also, when the main characters help save their enemy’s lives, and in return, they are left in a situation that will probably kill them! It was just kind of disturbing to think that some people actually think like that! I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read and even those whose attention span is short, because it will hook you right from the start!
