What was it that had landed on Mole's head?

He was happily coming out of his hole when 'Plop', something large and sausage-like landed on his head. It was not very nice, and he was not very happy. He took himself off to find out who had deposited this 'thing' on his head. He asked a bird, who said no, and demonstrated what it would have looked like had it been him. He then went on to ask some other animals: a hare, a horse, a goat and even a cow (though mole was glad it was not the cow!). They all demonstrated what it would have looked like had it been them.

Later he met two flies on the horse dung; he knew they would know the answer to his question. He asked them, and using their sense of smell they deduced that the dog was the culprit. Ahh, though mole the big dog in the Kennel, so while the dog was asleep, mole climbed up onto the kennel and deposited two tiny mole 'plops' on the dog's head. Happy, mole went home and back down his hole.

Was this justice or revenge?
