A Curious Beginning (Veronica Speedwell, #1)
by

I really enjoyed this first Veronica Speedwell mystery. Veronica is such a fresh historical heroine, smart and bold and unapologetic. She really challenged the current time (1880s) with her independence. Stoker was (honestly) the main reason I kept our the pages; I loved him and am dying to know what his big secret is. A traveling curiosities show, taxidermy, lepidopterology (the scientific study of butterflies) and even the Belvedere, one of the places Veronica and Stoker hide out, were all such fun and unexpected elements. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
