really liked it
bookshelves: queer-reads, young-adult-fiction

CW: alcoholism, underage alcohol abuse, loss of parents, drunk driving, sexting exposure (in the past), and shitty parenting

I was really impressed by this one! The story struck me as one that's very important. Growing up, I remember having friends whose parents were, well, insane. They were kids themselves. And, I remember that and them hiding the dysfunction in their lives quite well. This is a story for them. Not only that, but it's about a burgeoning queer relationship in the face of loss and grief. While this story doesn't mirror any of my experiences growing up, it's one that I know will match how other people grew up and are growing up.

The characters were very strong and the story was exceptional. I really grew attached to what was going on and I'd definitely read more of Eva and Grace's story.
