The Social Affair (New Hope Series #1)

I've been sitting here agonizing over what to write in my review of this book for three days now and I've come to the conclusion that I need to keep it brief for your benefit. No quotes, no plot specifics, NADA. If you're disciplined enough I would go so far as suggesting you don't even read the blurb before you dive in, just go for it. I keep circling back around to the fact that I have no words to fully describe was a breath of fresh air this experience was. There was no mainstream hype, no over-building of expectations like when I finally pick up something after months of salivating, it was just like every other "twisty domestic thriller" currently on the market. No, I was able to mostly go into this one blind, and I highly recommend that you do the same. The only warning I will give is that those sensitive to situations of domestic abuse and violence of all types may want to approach with caution. This is a dark tale with unsettling consequences.
Fun fact- while this book is a standalone novel, all of the author's books have ties to each other through characters that may be a brief snippet in one book and the focus of another. I most definitely will be going back to see how they all fit together and think that this is an absolutely brilliant strategy in creating unique tales. If you enjoy sexy thrillers that have a dash of mysterious cult in them, you should read this one. There was something that felt so realistic, current, and relatable about the story; the use of social media and the frightening power it can use to consume us was eye-opening. Trust me; you NEED this book. Do yourself the favor of purchasing it immediately. Don't give me that book buying ban excuse; it's only $3.99 (at the time of this writing) on kindle! You'll thank me later.
*Many thanks to the author for providing my copy.

I'm so excited! Mr. Humphrey just left on a business trip so I'm planning on binging it once the girls are in bed. <3

Well I haven't started it yet but I'll be sure to post my review here when I finish.

I hope so too ladies! I think I needed the break from all the mainstream, over-hyped fiction. It felt great getting back to a concise story that held my attention without all the frills. Hope you both enjoy!

Thank you so much Betul! I have to go back and finish the water series now!

Enjoy Sue!"
