it was amazing
Recommended for: fine readers.

I had never read this book and never would have except that Hemingway recommends it so highly in A Moveable Feast. And I am sure glad for Hemingway's wisdom: it was fantastic!

The Great Gatsby is beautifully written and fascinating in its style. Fitzgerald plays and jokes in his text, I think, and it's fun.

Incidentally, it reminded me much of Zeno's Conscience, the Italian novel that was much more successful outside Italy than in it, in the decades before Gatsby was written, I think.
