it was amazing
bookshelves: 2018

It took me a few chapters to get into this novel because of the exposition-heavy writing style, and because I just wasn't that interested in Tory as a character, but around Chapter 4, Dr. Toth was introduced, and the expedition to find mermaids was proposed, and suddenly I couldn't put the book down. This novel was everything my 14-year-old monster-loving heart could ever desire. Killer mermaids! Scientists with something to prove! Big game hunters looking to be the first to shoot a real-life mermaid (and eat it)! Plus: gay romance, and a deaf submarine pilot! There's so much here to love. Mira Grant knocks it out of the park yet again.
