This was a fascinating look at Germany just before the outbreak of WWII. Erik Larson portrays quite well the atmosphere inside Germany in the mid-30's, a time vital for understanding what happened over the next decade. In the Garden of Beasts is well written and interesting to read. Erik Larson's use of American diplomats gives an unusual insight.
