Core Message:
Self control is a muscle that is depleted through use, much like any other muscle.

The author proceeds by illustrating this concept through experimental studies conducted by neuroscientists, psychologists, and behavioral scientists on the nature of self control, and how its' idea has evolved throughout history. These explanations are interspersed with practical advice on how self control can be exercised, and how to glean whether our capacity for self control is depleted.
Though the text slightly drones during parts, overall it is a good read for those seeking to understand the importance of self control, a trait uniquely possessed by the human species.
