Actually listened to this, rather than read it. A fantastic story expertly narrated by Jim Dale. Twelve year old George Chapman breaks the head off a stone dragon outside a museum in London and begins a chain of events that takes him into a different "layer" of the city, one where the statues come alive and one where George must complete a quest before time runs out and he is trapped in this level of London forever.
Lots of adventure and unforgettable characters, a terrific plot and a cliffhanger that has me chomping at the bit for the next volume in the series. This is one of the first books I've come across that I would recommend to Harry Potter fans. The story isn't quite as complex (yet) as the Harry books, but it is just as good in its own way with loads of potential for the future installments. Well done!
