Why this book?: Great interactive read aloud, adds depth to library

Genre: Fantasy, Picture Book

Theme/Keywords: Cat, Cool Jazz, Socio/Emotional learning

Special Features: CD to sing along with--cool jazz

Characteristics of quality: Book is about still "movin and groovin" when things go wrong. Beat of the book corresponds with beats of Jazz music. Great, colorful pictures.

Gender of primary character: Male Cat

Race/ethnicity of primary character: ? (Supposed to be in an urban setting)

Cultural considerations: Urban setting

Language considerations: Good book, using simple language (for the most part), but terms such as "movin and groovin" might be difficult for some children to understand without background knowledge.

Open Ended Question: Why didn't Pete cry? Have you ever had a day like Pete's?
