** spoiler alert ** Definitely one of the best creepy books I've ever read.
This book has inspired me to write a novel of my own. The clever little details like "Althea De Mone"
(a play on the word demon) made this a rich and rewarding tale of magic and mystery. Hadley, a young 12-year-old girl learns the hard way to be careful what you wish for. The author creates great suspense through her use of dark imagery, narrative style(past to present), and her powerful metaphors. I really liked the ending, because it left lots of questions in my mind, and I couldn't stop thinking about it for several days after. I loved this story so much, that I will surely continue to read this author's works. Definitely a contender for the winner of this year's Silver Birch Contest.
