really liked it
bookshelves: young-adult-literature

Daniel is a young man in Israel who greatly objects to the Roman's rule. For a while he is a part of a rebellion to rise up and fight the Romans. Eventually he comes back to town and takes care of his troubled sister. He begins making friends in town who want to join a rebellion as well. Daniel stays fired up even when he meets a new rabbi who speaks of change. Jesus could soften Daniel and change his life. Will he let him?

I did not entirely love the writing of Elizabeth George Speare. It seemed bland. I enjoyed the story and how him and his sister grew closer together. It is certainly a story of forgiveness. I like how Jesus is a character in the story.
