This really twisted my head around. The most profound insight that the author pursues is the fact that the fast food industry is run along arbitrary systems of control. None of what we see around us is due to natural law or development; all of it is the product of human ingenuity and endeavor and the desire to make a successful business. And if said successful business is harming society and the world around us? Arbitrary things can be undone.
