I know who Chaz Bono is, not because of his famous parents, but because I love Dancing with the Stars. His story interested me, and I looked forward to reading this memoir. It wasn't really what I expected, very factual, and very little insight.
My biggest pet peeve about this book was a rich, famous person complaining about being rich and famous. I get that it must be hard having unwanted attention, paparazzi, lack of privacy, and mommy issues, but the average person just can't be overly sympathetic. Plenty of transgender people are poor, and can't afford hormone therapy or surgery. Their discrimination doesn't cost them a music career, it costs them a job at.... I don't know... McDonalds. And if they can't pay their bills, Cher won't step in and do it for them.
I gave it 3 stars because the story of a transgender person is a story that needs to be told.
