Do you want really easy world-building and some really steamy scenes with some destiny and tarot sprinkled in? Look no further. Darkling tells of a coven of witch where one of their own, Ryder, has been touched by dark magic, which could shake the world around him.

The characters are really good. You don't need the entire backstory of Port Lewis to understand the tensions and concerns of the witches. Plus, the lyrical way Ray shows off their powers prevents the need to explain how things work. And the sex scenes are A+. Liam and Ryder are such an OTP. Moreover, Ray does an elegant job introducing pronouns and Ryder's transness on page without interrupting the overall tone or flow of the story and it is something to be admired.

Overall, a chilling read for anyone who wants more witchcraft and heat in their life.
