I like a fun and fizzy contemporary YA all about friendships, high school stresses, boys, and romance- and Kantor delivers in all the categories here. If I could parallel it to something, I would describe it as though Sophie Kinsella (Confessions of a Shopaholic) or her contemporaries were writing about teens...

The book description pretty much gives a run-down of the subject and tone of the book. The novel is written in third person- a welcome change- and the chapters rotate between each of the girls' lives. It took me a few chapters to get into the rhythm of the book and to clearly differentiate between the voices of the main characters. It doesn't start with a cannon out the gate: I think readers might need to be patient with the narratives and wait for them to develop. I also wish some aspects of Jane, Natalya and Victoria's personalities (as well as some of the supporting characters) had been fleshed out in more detail and/or given more substance. But overall, I liked it! Like with Claire LaZebnik's Epic Fail, this is a YA contemporary that you can curl up with and simply enjoy.
It's an altogether entertaining and lively read- if not predictably predictable. But that is part of it's charm, I think. The sequel, called The Darlings in Love, is out now.
