really liked it
bookshelves: inspirational

The Shunning is an Amish inspirational novel. It is book 1 in the Lancaster County trilogy. It's about a young woman, Katie Lapp, who discovers that she is adopted after her birth mother, an "Englisher" comes to find her. Katie and her family as well as the community must come to terms with the decisions made.

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't inspirational in a "stuff it down your throat" kind of way but was subtle and much more appealing, I think. The sequels were equally good.
