it was amazing
bookshelves: women-authors, young-adult

I do not think I have ever read a novel that made me cry this much. In sadness, in anger, in frustration...for the characters in this book but also for the people this has REALLY happened to. The people who were murdered just for being brown...by someone who’s job is to serve and protect. This novel is beyond important for every person to read. Every person who’s said “blue lives matter” or even “all lives matter”- they need to read this. I feel like this book should be required reading in high school. Especially in areas where the population is predominantly white. It’s just so profound, moving, well written, and the characters are so well developed that by the end I felt like I was friends with Starr, considering I had taken this journey with her. This is a novel I will re-read over and over. I will also shove it in all my friends’ and family member’s faces and demand that they read it.
