I would choose this book to win the caldecott. I believe Hall did an excellent job tieng the illustrations and bright colors in with the book. A Perfect Square is a great book for creativity and inspiration. This book should be top on art and creative writing teachers list. The perfect sqaure is daily transformed into something different. On Monday, you have holes poked and stripped pieces to create a fountain. It was then torn in to scraps to become a garden. There was a bridge and a park formed as well. Ribbons with curves became a river; while wrinkles became a mountain. At the end and coincidentally on Sunday you had a perfect square again. The illustrations do the work for itself. This book is good for elementary school aged students, especially 2nd to fifth graders. I think this book could make creative minds out of students.
