Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

There are some teen novels that don't stand the test of time - Uglies is not one of them. Just as fast-paced and interesting as the first time I read it in 2005, Scott Westerfeld's first novel in the Uglies saga introduces us to two characters we grow attached to as the novel progresses: Tally and David. Ending on a cliff-hanger is also never a good idea, unless an author know that their readers are going to want to keep reading. Perhaps it's just an ugly trick, but Westerfeld nails it. Getting sucked into this series is the best thing I've ever done twice.
