it was ok
bookshelves: historical-fiction

I wanted to drop this book 100 pages in but I was desperate to know why people like it so much. I think my main issue is the format of the story - letters. It's a personal pet peeve of mine, but I don't like the letter writing narration style. Too many characters to keep straight. I had to keep going back to the top of the letter to see who this was written to and who wrote it. Then half a page later, it changed again! I was dizzy.

The story itself was ok, but nothing special. It was just hard to wade through because of the letter writing.

Carrie I'm not a fan of epistolary novels, either. I remember enjoying this one, though.

Cassandra I kept trying to like it because everyone says such wonderful things about it! I just couldn't do it. lol

Carrie That's okay! Lol. I'm typically left scratching my head at insanely popular books.
