it was ok
bookshelves: bummers

I started this book with very high expectations (I loved THE AMBER ROOM), but I found myself drudging through this one.

The constant changing of scenes from the hero to the villians was distracting, because they were not at all smooth. The names of the villians became confusing because of "code names."

I wanted to like the hero, but the constant references to his past, that in my opinion had little to do with this story, made him come across as weak.

I have a fondness for all things Romanov, but this did nothing to fulfill any kind of pleasure from even a fictional tale. Too many shoots off onto paths that didn't seem to need to be there.

I would have liked to have felt some kind of emotion while reading this book, anger, thrills, sadness, anything, but alas, none came. It took me nearly three months to read this book. I was determined to finish it, but I did not enjoy it.
