The Cranstons, a clueless family in New York, are taking their daughter to England to try to marry her off. The mice that have lived in their house for hundreds of years are concerned about their survival if the family leaves. So the mice family- Helena, Louise, Beatrice and Lamont- set off with the Cranstons as they sail. The mice find that they are not the only mice on the ocean liner. Indeed, there are even royal mice aboard. Helena and her sisters learn how to survive with and without the humans, help their humans to realize their dreams and find their places in life.

Not the best thing that Richard Peck has written. It was okay for reading aloud to the kids, but not something that I would read again.
