I believe that one of the best aspects of the SF genre is the honoured position that the short form has enjoyed within it, with the cream of the short story crop being collected each year in various anthologies. At the time of publishing, Ellison's "Dangerous Visions" was considered a high-water mark in the field, showcasing as it did not only a superlative collection of stories from such SF canon writers as P.K. Dick, Fred Pohl, Samuel R. Delany, Larry Niven and Ted Sturgeon, but also Ellison's iconoclastic editorial tastes. A must have collection for serious fans of the genre.
