"The Snowy Day" is a story about Peter who shares with us (the readers) his adventures on a cold snowy day. He makes snow angels. patterns in the snow with his feet and a stick, observes the older boys having a snow ball fight, etc. This story can directly relate to many children simply because they know what it likes to have fun on a snowy day. My students (kindergarten) absolutely enjoy this book. With every turn of the page, they see something familiar. I like to follow up this book with activities, including discussions centered on snow, I have them draw a picture and write about their favorite thing(s) to do when it snows, I also have them compare and contrast Peter vs. Self. The list can go on and on.
