really liked it

I finally finished this book today (I was hoping to finish it during Banned Books Week, but that didn’t happen), and it was such an enjoyable story. If there’s one way that I can tell if I’m enjoying a book or not, it’s if I think about the story when I’m not actively reading it. And I definitely thought about this one a lot. It was such a heartwarming tale and Junior was a wonderful narrator.

Probably one of the most fun aspects of this book was that Junior’s cartoons appeared on every other page or so, and they corresponded with the story. This made the experience more enjoyable for me because it gave a more personal glimpse into Junior’s mind. While this was a tragically sad story that was full of loss, Junior’s humor and optimism were contagious.

“If you’re good at it, and you love it, and it helps you navigate the river of the world, then it can’t be wrong.”
