The reviews I read of this bemoaned the fact that it took a while for the actual story to take off, but this was actually one of the reasons I enjoyed this book. It turns out that I enjoy the scene-setting and small details of a novel. Indeed, my favourite parts might have been the descriptions of the twins' Saturday routine back in Chicago.

And the fact that I picked this up and started reading it in a wonderful bookstore in Dublin, while sitting at an old wooden table, drinking a coffee from a floral mug, and eating some cake, while the River Liffey flowed past the window created a setting for this book that added to my pleasure. It really is about the small details, people! Virginia Woolf agrees.

The London details were also impeccably correct.
