it was amazing

In 1998 I wrote a science fiction book from an alien species' perspective. I worked the world up from the base level astronomy, up through chemistry, ecology, evolution and social structure based on what resources were availible.

Then a few years later I read Guns, Germs & Steel. I realized I right the right idea though more crudely formed than Jared Diamond's examing of civilizations and how they are much a product of their geography. My later writings in science fiction are much better because of Diamond.

To form a truly believable society in fiction, be it human or not, I highly recommend any author read this book and study it well.
