I continue to like this series, but a few things about this one struck me as odd. First, it seems that the novel started halfway into the story - her cousin's death and subsequent visit by vampires from New Orleans happening before the novel started but referred to often enough that I wondered if I missed a book.* Second, despite the jacket saying that Sookie was called on to attend the queen at a conference, she doesn't leave for that trip until halfway through.

I like her new friend and I like the development of her new relationship, but find I am still on Team Bill, even after what he reveals about his history in this story. That may, however, be the tv series talking.

* It turns out that that tale was released as a short story, "One Word Answer", published in A Touch of Dead and Bite.
