really liked it
bookshelves: judaica, historical-fiction

I always learn from Dara Horn's books. This one does not have the generational range of the earlier titles, but I still found insights into the Civil War, the conflicts of families, and the experience of Jews enlightening. Judah Benjamin becomes a much more interesting and complex person through this novel. And Grant's eviction notice(?)was new to me and alarming. A good read.
