This is a simple, nicely illustrated, poetic text about observations made in a typical semi-rural backyard. It is based on the author's personal experience with a doe and fawn that temporarily lived in the author's backyard. All told, this is a simple poem stretched over the course of a picture book, so it appears primary at first read. It would work with a primary audience, but it could translate easily into a lesson with older readers about observational poetry.
