Forget the Vampire books. Okay, they're FINE, and entertaining in their own way. But "The Witching Hour" is a REALLY good book. A lot more depth than the vampires. And Rice really knows how to go through several hundred years of family history and keep you interested the entire way (mostly because the family tree of this history, geez, less of a "tree" and more of a "mutant ivy vine with branches growing in all directions, including backwards." If you read it you'll know what I mean.
