Anyway, a book that can be summed up by "I know we basically live in Sunnydale but can I just graduate high school before they blow the building up... again?". It's very tongue-in-cheek, very funny and every chapter starts with a summary about what the indie kids (the ~chosen ones~) are doing while the characters of the book are living their lives.

What hits me the hardest is the mental health issues, though. The main character is slipping back into OCD, his sister is a recovering anorexic and their mother has Alzheimers. It deals with all of them in such a good way, and the section where Michael asks his grandmother "what if I get stuck? like you are?" just broke my heart. So much.

Funny and important and painful and raw. I super recommend this book.
