** spoiler alert ** It's been a long while since I've read a book this good. "The Road" is stark and beautiful. It's depressing but gives you a since of calm.

The story follows a father and his son (names are never given in the book) as they make their way towards the shore in a post-apocalyptic world. You never find out what happened to make the world as desolate as it now is but you do find out that there are good guys and bad guys.

The good guys (like the father and son) are roamers who are making their way along the road and trying not to be caught. You never find out the exact threat that the bad guys play except that they will kill if they catch any good guys.

The book has a very sad ending with a glimmer of hope in it. It kept me reading deep into the night.
