bookshelves: small-town, hockey

Abby moves home after divorcing her high school boyfriend, Dean, an NHL hockey player who cheated on her. Her daughter has a difficult time adjusting to life without her dad, and in a small town. But she's excited about trying out for the coed hockey team with her friend. The trouble for Abby is that she wants nothing to do with hockey. And...the coach is Dean's best friend from childhood, Jackson. Jackson has always been cold to Abby.

Jackson has been in love with Abby since the second grade, and the only one who doesn't seem to know is Abby. He's been standoffish to protect his heart, which shattered the day Dean married Abby.

Jackson has a chance with Abby now. But he also has a chance to get back into the NHL, which Abby couldn't handle again. Which will he choose?
I loved this sort-of second chance romance. A second chance for Jackson, that is. I loved the progression of Abby and Jackson's relationship, which seemed natural. And I loved that Jackson was finally getting a chance with the woman he loved. And Abby learned something about love along the way.

You'll have to read the book to find out how the Abby vs NHL hockey storyline was resolved. ;-)

Jennifer Snow uses real NHL hockey teams in the story, which is interesting. Some hockey romance writers make up NHL teams for their series.
