Well, this was as YA as they get, with all the good and bad things that come with that.
Let’s start with the good: the characters are likable. This is probably why I gave this 4 stars instead of 3. Both Maddy and Olly are interesting enough to make you turn pages. That being said, we have almost instalove here. Gosh, I wish I would understand why YA authors always do that. I’m not saying their love story is badly written. Just that it happens waaaaay too fast. Slow down! Make me care first!!
The novel itself, plot wise, is pretty simple. At some point, before that twist, I was thinking it will go for the classic The Fault in Our Stars ending, but it actually managed to avoid that in a pretty clever way. Oh, it made me mad, but that is good. It means it made me care. So good job!
Now look, if you are a YA reader you will probably like this. If not, it is a 50/50 gamble. I enjoyed this more in a guilty pleasure way than the fact that it is an actually a great book. It keeps you engaged, but it doesn’t really bring nothing new to the table. Make of that what you want.

Well, I gave it 2 stars just for the characters and the plot twist 😅 So I understand when you say is a guilty pleasure, because this book doesn't give us new things to YA, It's always the same 😂
