Bonhoeffer has some incredible things to say. In the first part of his book, he compares “costly grace” and “cheap grace.” How often we cheapen God’s grace! I underlined a lot in that section. In the second (and longest) of the three parts, he goes through the Sermon on the Mount in depth. Some of what he mentioned, I’d heard before; some I hadn’t. It was interesting to look at it with a different perspective. His third section is mostly about the Church and what we should look like in the world as a representation of Christ.

If you’re looking for a book that will challenge your views of Christianity (with Scripture to back it up) and help you see the seldom-taught meaning of discipleship, this is a must read.
