1. Contemporary

2. This story is about a kitten that mistakes the moon for a bowl of milk. She tries over and over again to reach that bowl of milk, but she never gets to it. Instead she enjoys a bowl of milk on the porch, and the moon is still shining.

3. A. This story is short and sweet. One area for comment is the illustrations. The story takes place during the night, therefore the only light comes from the moon. Night time might be scary for some children, but this shows the beauty and gentleness of the night. Another area I would like to point out, the positive message this story sends. It is encouraging and children can gain inspiration.
B. GOOD- The illustrations are consistent and calm. STRONG-One strong point from this story is the wording. The action words stand out, which can help early readers or listeners. APPROPRIATE- The message of “don’t give up, and keep trying” is very appropriate.
C.An example is when the kitten finally reaches the reflection of the moon, and realizes it is not milk. She continues to reach for it even after several failed attempts. In the end she still gets a bowl of milk, which also promotes patience.

4. I would tie this into lessons on action words, or an introduction of verbs. It can also be used to relay messages of patience and ambition.
