really liked it
bookshelves: espionage, thrillers

This is the first Daniel Silva novel I have read and I enjoyed it. His style reminds me of Forsyth and John Le Carre. In particular I liked the historical context of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Gabriel Allon is recalled to duty from his peaceful life as an art restorer in Venice when the Israeli Embassy in Rome is destroyed by a suicide bomber. There follows a cat and mouse duel between Allon and Khaled, opponents of equal status in the war of attrition.
