Gotta love Pittsburgh. For a small city there's so much happening here of interest to me that I'm perpetually being surprised by the quantity of talent, etc. The Partisan Project was founded to create posters w/ specific stated political agendas. This 1st series presents the work of Pittsburgh & non-Pittsburgh folks: Michael Bierut, Art Chandry, Kyle Coen, Handel Low, Modern Dog, Calvin Rambler, John Riegert, Melina Rodrigo, Sarah Sirlin + Brett Yasko, Third Termite Press, Jude Vachon, James Vittore, Larkin Werner, Ted Williams, & Hyla Willis. A fairly large edition of this poster bk was printed & the bks were left around for free all over Pittsburgh (& probably distributed beyond). People took them, chose their favorites, put them in their windows, etc. One poster shows Attorney General John Ashcroft w/ a chart of the breakdown of the legal hierarchy. At its top is written: "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING" & at the bottom: "AND SO ARE WE." Another is just a large "NO" w/ a large "W" underneath it: No (George) W (Bush) NOW.
