This book is on a very short list of books that made me laugh so hard by the first page that I almost spit coffee all over my Kindle. And it only got better from there.
Zenka combines a few different elements that make for a stellar book: Characters who have no problem kicking down the front door and don’t take no for an answer, a storyline buzzing with suspense, a wide streak of twisted humor, and a few plot curveballs you never saw coming. It has the feel of something Tina Fey and Simon Pegg might dream up if they came together to write a book. In fact, as I was reading, I kept imagining that Nick Frost would play one of the main characters if it were made into a movie.
This is one of my very favorite novels I’ve read in 2017—and I’ve already read 77 books this year so this is a pretty high honor. If you like the dark absurd humor of British classics like Absolutely Fabulous and Monty Python you’re going to LOVE Zenka.
